2. EduVita Schools Initiative

In South Africa, many learners in under-resourced schools face significant challenges in accessing opportunities for further education. To address this, the UniVita Foundation partnered with Tswelelang Primary School in Meadowlands to launch the EduVita initiative, designed to support Grade 6 learners in applying for high school scholarships and to equip them with the tools to make informed decisions about their academic future.

WE HAVE SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS FOR LEARNERS WITH A 4 SUCCES 0 S RATE % FOR ASSESSMENT ELIGIBILITY.

In 2024, the EduVita program focused on guiding five learners from Tswelelang Primary School through the process of applying for scholarships, such as the Allan Gray High School Scholarship. Of the five learners who applied for the scholarship, two were successfully deemed eligible for assessment, representing a 40% rate of eligibility for the next stage of the program.

Although we are still in the early stages, we are proud of the progress made. To ensure sustainability and growth, we are in the process of expanding our network, aiming to involve more schools and provide additional resources and training to teachers on how to offer career guidance and academic support effectively.

Our long-term goal is to reach more learners, ensuring they are well-prepared for the academic demands of high school and beyond. By equipping them with the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future, we are fostering a generation of capable and confident learners ready to take on the world.

Furthermore, by engaging with the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, learners are being introduced to broader opportunities such as varsity scholarships, mentorship, leadership development, and entrepreneurial training, creating pathways for their long-term growth and success. We look forward to building on this foundation and empowering even more learners to unlock their potential and shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
